10 Reasons the Scale Fluctuates

If you’ve noticed the scale is up a few pounds and you’re worried you’re not making any progress, there may be no reason to fret. If you’re consistent with your training and working to form a well-balanced, healthy diet, there are a number of variables that may contribute to a greater number on the scale.

Before you panic too much, consider these reasons for the uptick in ounces.

  1. You are recovering from a tough session

  2. You need to use the restroom

  3. You slept poorly the night before

  4. You’ve consumed more salt recently

  5. You are taking new medications

  6. You are experiencing more stress than usual

  7. You ate more carbs that normal

  8. You’ve consumed alcohol recently

  9. You’re dehydrated

  10. You’re about to begin your menstrual cycle

Weight will not always perfectly trend down. You will often experience spikes in weight. Know that it’s part of the process and your consistency and discipline will get you where you want to be in due time.
